The present invention provides Muscodor , a novel endogenous fungus that produces a mixture of volatile antibiotics that are active against certain plant pathogens, bacteria, nematodes and insects. The invention also provides a method of treating or protecting plants, soil and seeds from microbial infections comprising administering an effective amount of a volatile antibiotic-producing Muscodor species. The invention also provides fungicides, fungicides, insecticides and nematicides comprising the novel Muscodor strains and antibiotics and metabolites produced by these strains, alone or in combination with other chemical and biological pesticides. It's about the first. The invention also provides a method for identifying and isolating fungi that produce related gases.n n n Muscodor albus, Muscodor roseus, volatile antibiotics, endogenous bacteria, fungi |
