titleOfInvention | Honeycomb Structure |
abstract | The honeycomb structure 1 includes a partition 6 having a plurality of pores and arranged to form a plurality of cells 5 serving as an exhaust gas flow path between two end faces, and one of the open ends of the cells on the two end faces. And a honeycomb segment 2 having a shape of a portion of the whole structure separated in two or more in a plane parallel to the central axis, wherein the honeycomb segments 2 are arranged to seal the whole structure. It has a configuration to form. The honeycomb segment 2 includes at least a portion of a specific segment 2X, which has a different characteristic from the general segment 2a other than this specific segment, and the seal 7 has a plurality of segments. Additional seals 8 are arranged at open ends (unsealed open ends) not disposed in the cells of the two specific segments to suppress the flow of at least a portion of the exhaust gas to the unsealed ends. The honeycomb structure can exhibit a special function by a honeycomb segment which is excellent in heat dissipation upon heating, effectively prevents damage due to thermal stress, and which is endowed with characteristics (specificity) different from those of the general segment. |
