abstract The present invention relates to (1) one or more double metal cyanide; (2) one or more organic ligands; (3) water; And (4) at least one crown ether ligand, provided that the organic ligand (2) is not a crown ether ligand (4), but is a double metal cyanide (DMC) catalyst. The DMC catalyst of the present invention is useful for preparing polyether polyols by a method comprising adding an alkylene oxide to an initiator with active hydrogen in the presence of such a DMC catalyst.
