abstract The present invention relates to a system and a method for providing two-way traffic information through a digital multimedia broadcasting network, the traffic information transmission request for a specific area from at least one receiving terminal located in the area where the traffic information is to be broadcast according to the scheduled broadcast schedule If the traffic information transmission request is detected, the idle bandwidth of the traffic information broadcasting channel of the digital multimedia broadcasting network is calculated, and the real time traffic information data of the area to be broadcast and the data capacity within a range not exceeding the idle bandwidth are searched. Real-time traffic information data of specific area is transmitted through digital multimedia broadcasting network. By doing so, it is possible to provide interactive services by broadcasting not only the advanced traffic information broadcasting but also the traffic information according to the user's request through the digital multimedia broadcasting network, and the traffic of a specific area as well as the corresponding regional traffic information to a plurality of receiving terminals. By broadcasting the information, the operation of the limited digital multimedia broadcasting channel is efficient and easy to maintain.
