Method and apparatus for testing catalytic converter durability |
abstract |
The present application is directed to an apparatus (1) and a method for testing the performance of a catalytic converter (170) of a vehicle under simulated conditions occurring in the automobile in an extended drive state. This application provides a novel vortex plate 18 for generating a flow pattern that includes the interaction of multiple vortex jets 242. The interaction of the vortex jets 242 preferably produces a vortex flow that collapses and extends at intervals approximately equal to the length of the inner diameter of the combustion tube 210. Vortex plate 18 and fuel injector 16 allow the burner to operate on complete combustion for an extended period of time. |
