titleOfInvention | Light scattering film and liquid crystal display device using the same |
abstract | The light scattering film 10 of the present invention is a birefringent material in a resin layer in which at least one component of the transparent resin 6 and the scattering material 7 is a birefringent material (for example, a birefringent resin and a liquid crystalline material). It can obtain by carrying out the orientation process. In the light scattering film, when the linearly polarized light having the vibration direction and the propagation direction is incident on the surface of the film including the axis in the plane direction of the film and the axis in the thickness direction of the film, the linear transmittance of the incident light is inclined with respect to the film plane. The maximum value is shown in a direction (for example, incidence angle of 20 to 89 °). The linear transmittance of incident light in the direction orthogonal to a film plane is 0 to 30%, and the linear transmittance of incident light in the inclination direction of 40 to 70 degrees of incidence angles is 50 to 100%. The light scattering film can improve the directivity in light scattering characteristics, and can improve the brightness of the display surface in the front direction even when light is incident from the oblique direction. Therefore, the film is useful for use in combination with a polarizing plate of a liquid crystal display device. |
