abstract |
In the engine exhaust passage according to the present invention, a fuel addition valve 14, an oxidation catalyst 11, and a NOx storage reduction catalyst 12 for adding fuel in the form of a spray drop are provided in that order. The oxidation catalyst 11 includes palladium (Pd) as well as platinum (Pt) as a noble metal. The molar ratio of platinum Pt to the total amount of platinum Pt and palladium Pd contained on the oxidation catalyst 11 is set to about 50% to 80%. |
