abstract | The present invention is a metal catalyst containing metal fine particles having a particle diameter of 3 nm or less and a metal bonding state in which the ratio of the metal bonding state obtained by waveform separation of the inherent binding energy peak measured by an X-ray photoelectron analyzer is 40% or more. As the metal fine particles, platinum fine particles are preferable. In addition, the metal fine particles are supported on the surface of the carrier particles by reducing the ions of the metal that is the basis of the metal fine particles by the action of a reducing agent in the liquid reaction system in which the carrier particles are dispersed, and depositing them in the form of fine particles on the surface of the carrier particles. It is preferable. The metal fine particles are reduced after the precipitation to lower the oxidized state, whereby the ratio of the metal bonded state is adjusted to the above range. |
