abstract | Packaged food includes food and wrapping paper for enclosing the food. The wrapper may be molded from a coated and printed film comprising a base film comprising one or more thermoplastics and having an average thickness of less than about 15 mils (381 μm). The image is printed on the printing side of the base film. The radiation cured varnish covers the printed image. The radiation cured varnish was formed by coating the printed image with a radiation curable varnish comprising at least one polymerizable reactant and optionally at least one photoinitiator. The radiation curable varnish is then exposed to radiation sufficient to polymerize at least 90% by weight of the polymerizable reactant. The coated and printed film was measured from the coated and printed film, in a food container formed from the coated and printed film, from 95% by weight of ethanol and 5% by weight of water, as measured according to the FDA Transfer Test Protocol. Any polymerizable, into which the food mimic is in contact with the food side of the base film and encapsulated so that the ratio of the food mimic volume to the coated and printed film surface area is 10 ml / in 2 (1.55 ml / cm 2 ).
