titleOfInvention | Corroded Steel Sheet with Excellent Corrosion Resistance |
abstract | The converted steel sheet includes an Al-Si alloy plating layer whose Si content is preferably adjusted to 5 to 13 mass% in total and 7 to 80 mass% on the surface, and a chemical conversion treatment layer formed on the surface of the plating layer. The chemical conversion layer contains both soluble and poorly soluble compounds. Soluble compounds, such as manganese oxides or hydroxides or valve metal fluorides, once dissolved in water in the atmosphere, are then re-precipitated as poorly soluble compounds in the defects of the chemical conversion layer. Poorly soluble compounds serve as a barrier for corrosion protection of substrate steels. The good corrosion resistance of the chemical conversion layer is still maintained even after defects enter into it during plastic deformation of the steel sheet due to the reprecipitation, ie, self-repairing ability.n n n Steel sheet, chemical conversion, manganese oxide, fluoride, valve metal, self-healing |
