titleOfInvention Hydrogenation of Benzene to Cyclohexane
abstract A process for the preparation of cyclohexane by hydrogenation of benzene is provided wherein the reactor is operated at a predetermined pressure such that the reaction mixture boils under low hydrogen partial pressure in the range of about 0.1 to 200 psia at 0 to 350 psia overhead pressure. The catalyst is provided as a catalytic distillation structure 12 which allows the reaction to occur simultaneously with distillation. Benzene is supplied at a point above the bed (1) and hydrogen is supplied below the bed (2). All overhead can be refluxed to provide cooling in the catalyst bed.n n n n Cyclohexane, benzene, catalytic distillation structure
