abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the purification of a composition containing at least one internal dehydration of hydrogenated sugars. The invention further comprises the steps of (a) optionally treating said composition with one or more bleaching means after or after redissolution; (b) treating said composition optionally treated with at least one deionizing means with at least one ion exchange means; And (c) treating the resulting composition with one or more bleaching means. The method is applied to isohexide compositions, in particular isosorbide or isomannide compositions.
