abstract | The present invention provides a method for cryopreservation of sperm selected for specific characteristics. In a preferred embodiment, the method is used to freeze sex-selected sperm. The cryopreservation method of the present invention can be used to freeze sperm selected by a large number of selection methods, but selection using flow cytometry is preferred. In a preferred embodiment, the frozen sperm sample comprises mammalian sperm, such as, for example, human, cow, horse, pig, sheep, elk and bison sperm. Frozen selected sperm samples can be used for a variety of applications. In particular, this sample can be thawed and used for fertilization.
