abstract | A color filter display device provided with a shielding member between a seal member and a display area so that the liquid crystal layer is not contaminated by a liquid crystal layer contaminant from the seal member, wherein the shielding member contains a substance which adversely affects the liquid crystal layer. It is a main object to provide a color liquid crystal display device having a shielding member formed of a material that does not.n n n A color filter substrate having a plurality of color layers formed in a predetermined pattern in a display region on a transparent substrate, an opposite electrode substrate disposed to face the color filter substrate with a predetermined gap, and disposed outside the display region, A liquid crystal layer formed by injecting a liquid crystal material into a gap between the seal member that seals the gap between the substrates, a gap between the substrates sealed by the seal member, and a liquid crystal in the liquid crystal layer by a contaminant from the seal member. It is formed between the seal member and the display area so as not to contaminate the material, and formed of a material having a voltage retention of 80% or more of the liquid crystal material subjected to the impurity extraction process and a residual DC (ΔE) of 0.5V or less.
