The security item 10 includes a light transmissive substrate 12, the substrate 12 having a first side and a second side opposite thereof, the first side having optical such as a holographic image pattern or an optical diffraction pattern. The interference pattern 14 is located. The color change optical coating 16 is formed on the substrate, such as in the interference pattern or on the opposite substrate second side. The optical coating then provides a observable color change depending on the angle of incidence or viewing angle of the light. Various processes can be used to form the security item 10, such as vacuum coating, lamination, laser drawing, and laser image. The security item 10 can be secured to a variety of objects through various attachment mechanisms such as pressure sensitive adhesives or hot stamping treatments to provide improved security measures such as anti-counterfeiting. |
