abstract The present invention is to provide a cerium-based abrasive having excellent polishing characteristics such as less occurrence of scratches and higher polishing rate. It is a cerium-based abrasive containing at least cerium oxide (CeO 2 ), lanthanum oxide (La 2 O 3 ), and neodymium oxide (Nd 2 O 3 ) as a rare earth oxide, and containing fluorine (F). The ratio of the weight of cerium oxide (CeO 2 / TREO) in the oxide equivalent weight (TREO) is 45 wt% to 70 wt%, and lanthanum oxide (La 2 O 3 ) and neodymium oxide (Nd 2 ) in the total rare earth oxide equivalent weight.
