titleOfInvention | Selective removal of contaminants from surfaces using articles with magnets |
abstract | The present invention relates to a system and method for removing contaminants from a surface. The system is designed to utilize particles having a means thereon that can selectively bind to the desired contaminant or contaminants. The particles are applied to the surface and contaminants bind to the particles on the surface. Removing the particles also removes the desired contaminants. Preferably, in the present invention, iron-containing magnetic particles are used. This particle can be easily removed using a magnet. The means for binding the contaminant to the particles preferably comprises a ligand or charge specifically designed to remove the desired contaminant. The particles can be included in the carrier to facilitate the application of the particles to the surface. The present invention is particularly useful for removing contaminants from the skin. n n n Magnets, magnetic particles, decontamination, iron, ligand, charge, skin |
