abstract | The present invention provides a method for preparing a water-soluble (meth) acrylic acid polymer having a content of neutralized groups of 90 mol% or less with respect to the total of free acid groups and neutralized groups, and at least 50 mol% with respect to the total of monomers used for polymerization. And a photopolymerization step of polymerizing monomer components by irradiating near-ultraviolet rays to a reaction solution containing a monomer component containing a (meth) acrylic acid-based monomer in an amount, a photopolymerization initiator, a chain transfer agent, and a polymerization solvent, wherein the reaction solution at the time of polymerization. The manufacturing method which adjusts the density | concentration of the monomer in the density | concentration to 40-97 mass%. |
