abstract |
The present invention utilizes a naphtha splitter as a distillation column reactor to treat part or all of the naphtha to remove organic sulfur compounds contained therein. The catalyst is placed in a distillation column reactor to allow selected portions of naphtha to be contacted and treated. The catalyst can be placed in the rectifying zone to treat only light boiling range components, the stripping zone to treat only heavy boiling range components, or to treat naphtha extensively throughout the column. Distillation column reactors can also be combined with standard single pass fixed bed reactors or other distillation column reactors to better control the treatment. |
