titleOfInvention Memory system
abstract The memory system includes a semiconductor memory 6 having individual addressable memory sectors 1 arranged in an erasable block, and for writing and reading to the sectors and classifying the blocks into " erase " and " non-erase " blocks. And a controller 8. The controller has a write pointer WP for performing logical-physical address translation and specifying a physical sector address to which data from the host processor is to be written. A sector allocation table (SAT) of logical addresses for each physical address is stored in memory, and the controller updates the SAT less frequently than the frequency at which data from the host processor is written to the sector. The memory is a single chip or multiple chips. A new system for arranging data in separate sectors 1 is also claimed.
