In all embodiments, two or more kinds of particles having different colors and charging characteristics are enclosed between at least one transparent substrate, and an electric field is applied to the particles from an electrode pair consisting of electrodes formed on one or both sides of the substrate. The present invention relates to an image display apparatus comprising an image display panel for moving particles in an emergency manner to display an image. In the first embodiment, the process of forming an image to be displayed includes the process of forming an image by applying an electric field pattern in the direction in which Particle A escapes to the display side substrate between the electrodes, and the color and charging characteristics of Particle A.
