titleOfInvention | Liquid crystal display device with a plurality of domains vertically aligned and a manufacturing method thereof |
abstract | A pair of substrates are arranged in parallel with a gap therebetween. A liquid crystal material containing liquid crystal molecules having negative dielectric anisotropy is filled between the substrates. Liquid crystal molecules are oriented in homeotropic form. On opposite sides of one of the substrates, pixel electrodes are arranged in a matrix, and data bus lines and gate bus lines are arranged. The gate bus line passes through the inner region of each pixel electrode. The switch element is formed on the opposite surface of the substrate. Each switch element is controlled by a gate bus line in another row. Projections are formed on opposite sides of one of the substrates. The protrusions divide the area of the pixel electrode into a plurality of areas, and are each curved on the gate bus line. A domain boundary defining unit is formed on the opposite side of the other of the substrates. The protrusion and domain boundary defining unit define the boundary of each domain.n n n n Liquid Crystal Display, Homeotropic |
