titleOfInvention Absorbent articles with increased elastic design for improved aesthetics and acceptance
abstract An absorbent article (10) comprising a backsheet layer (30) having a pair of transversely facing and longitudinally extending side edges (20). Each side edge has an outwardly concave, distal side edge contour 15 located in the designated leg opening portion 17 in the middle portion 16 of the side edge. Each concave side edge contour 15 has a selected longitudinal length along the length dimension 26 of the article 10. The liquid permeable topsheet layer 28 is connected in a superimposed contact with the backsheet layer 30, and the absorber 32 is sandwiched between the topsheet layer 28 and the backsheet layer 30. The separately provided gusset-flap composite component 19 is connected to at least one backsheet and topsheet layers along each leg opening portion 17. The gusset-flap component 19 provides a leg gusset portion 142 and a receiving flap portion 144. The gusset-flap component includes a barrier layer 174 having a pair of transversely facing, longitudinally extending barrier layer side edges 140, 141, the first major tangential 148 and the second major Has a contact 149. The nonwoven fabric layer 176 is connected in contact with the first contact surface 1480 of the barrier layer 174. The fabric layer 176 includes the leg gusset portion 136, the outer side portion 170, and the receiving flap portion ( 63, and an inner side portion 62. An outer side portion 170 of the gusset-flap fabric layer 176 wraps around at least one barrier layer 174 and a second of the barrier layer 174. And a first arrangement of a plurality of first separate, longitudinally extending elastomeric components 138 is the leg gusset of the gusset-flap component 19. Attached and laid between barrier layer 174 and fabric layer 176 in portion 142.n n n n Absorbent articles, topsheet layers, backsheet layers, gusset-flap components.
