titleOfInvention Method and device for receiving data using bit insertion
abstract The message is encoded in a puncture convolution code by an encoding process including bit erasure and transmitted in a multi-component modulation system such as 16-QAM where each component of the signal represents one or more bit values. In the receiving device, the bit metric calculating circuit calculates a bit metric of each bit data represented by each received signal. The resulting sequence of bit metrics is bit inserted to obtain one or more incremented bit metric sequences corresponding to the coded message before bit erasing. One or more incremented bit metric sequences are decoded with the most probable decoding scheme such as Viterbi decoding.
