abstract | A method of purifying groundwater and porous media using microbial diffusion due to fluctuations and flow of groundwater is disclosed. The purifying apparatus includes air inlet / outlet means for injecting air into a porous medium composed of a saturated layer and an unsaturated layer to activate microorganisms present in the unsaturated layer and extracting volatile contaminants of the unsaturated layer. In addition, by injecting the microbial agent in the saturation layer includes a microbial agent injection means for purifying the contaminated groundwater and the microbial agent diffuses from the saturated layer of the porous medium to the unsaturated layer due to the fluctuations and flow of the groundwater. The apparatus having the above-described configuration can more effectively purify contaminated groundwater and porous media. |
