abstract | C 4 to C 15 olefins having a primary structural distribution are reacted with aromatic compounds under alkylation conditions to produce alkylated aromatic products, and dealkylated alkylated aromatic products under dealkylation conditions to aromatic compounds and olefins in alkylation. A process for isomerizing C 4 to C 15 olefins, which results in dealkylated products comprising olefins having corresponding secondary structure distributions which differ from the primary structure distributions. Acidic catalysts such as molecular sieves are used for both alkylation and dealkylation. The reaction can be carried out in a straight pass fixed bed or in a catalytic distillation reactor. |
