titleOfInvention Method for preparing acetic acid and/or methyl acetate by methyl formate isomerisation
abstract A process for preparing acetic acid and / or methyl acetate by methyl formate isomerization reaction is disclosed. This process is carried out in the presence of a catalyst system comprising methyl formate, water, a solvent, and at least one halogenation promoter and at least one iridium compound. According to this method, a carbon monoxide partial pressure of from 0.1 x 10 5 Pa to 25 x 10 5 Pa is maintained during the reaction and the amount of methyl formate is kept below 20 wt% based on the weight of the reaction medium.
