abstract Methacrolein and methyl ethyl ketone were reacted with ammonia in the gas phase in the presence of a catalyst of silica-alumina containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of cobalt, zinc, cadmium, thallium and lead. Collidine and 2-ethyl-5-methylpyridine are prepared simultaneously in high yield.
