titleOfInvention Sulfurized phenolic antioxidant composition, method of preparing same, and petroleum products containing same
abstract The present invention relates to crosslinked phenols that are substantially liquid, free of chlorine, and useful as antioxidants, and more specifically, are effective antioxidant (s) and improved elastomers in lubricants and liquid organic fuels that do not cause excessive copper corrosion. It relates to the preparation of a hindered phenol composition which is substantially liquid, free of chlorine and crosslinked with sulfur, using 1-propanol as the reaction solvent which has seal compatibility. The present invention also includes lubricating oils and liquid organic fuels containing the antioxidant additives of the present invention and includes methods for reducing oxidation in lubricating oils or liquid organic fuels used in machines such as internal combustion engines.
