titleOfInvention | Frangible spray dried agglomerated supports, method of making such supports, and olefin polymerization catalysts supported thereon |
abstract | The present invention is directed to a rupturable spray dried cohesive catalyst support provided with a fine ellipsoid in controlled form and having a rough and rugged appearance, for example silica gel that penetrates the aggregate surface and has a substantially single size and distribution.n n n The aggregates also have a particle size of 1 to 250 microns, a surface area of 1 to 1000 m 2 / g and a wear index of at least 10 (AQI). The agglomerates are derived from a mixture of dry pulverized inorganic oxide particles (eg silica gel) and optional but preferred wet pulverized inorganic oxide particles (eg silica gel particles) and slurried in water for spray drying (which is 1 Preference is given to colloidal fractions of particles below micron). High AQI indicates that the aggregates are rupturable and the performance of the polymerization reaction is improved. It is believed that the controlled form allows the constituent particles of the aggregate to be more impregnated or coated with conventional olefin polymerization catalysts. |
