abstract The present invention relates to a method for preparing poly (vinyl pivalate) by low-temperature suspension polymerization of vinyl pivalate and to polyvinyl pivalate and polyvinyl alcohol produced thereby. In the present invention, by using azobisdimethylvaleronitrile, which can be initiated at 20 ° C to 70 ° C, as an initiator, vinyl pivalate is subjected to low-temperature suspension polymerization and used as a precursor for high-array high molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol. Provided is a method for producing the array polypivalate with high efficiency. The present invention also provides a method for preparing polypivalate particles having various diameters and uniform diameter distributions by separating the polypivalate using a dispersant and a precipitant. The polypivalate particles may be suspended in an aqueous alkali solution to allow saponification to occur only at the surface, thereby maintaining the shape of the particles in a spherical shape and converting the surface into polyvinyl alcohol, thereby providing a particulate embolic agent usable for embolization. According to the present invention, it is possible to prepare polypivalate polyvinyl phosphate of high alternating high molecular weight microspheres at a low temperature by using only a chemical initiator without UV irradiation at a high conversion rate of 50% or more.
