titleOfInvention Functional groups for thermal crosslinking of polymeric systems
abstract The present invention relates to a novel composition having a crosslinking group grafted to the backbone of a thermally stable polymer, which group can provide a thermosetting polymer system by crosslinking the polymer with heat. The present invention is particularly suitable for high Tg polymers in which the predetermined temperature of the crosslinking reaction (curing) exists in the range of 200 ° C to 450 ° C. The present invention allows the coupling of various diarylhydroxymethyl groups and 9- (9-hydroxyfluorenyl) groups to poly (arylene ether) polymer backbones using grafting techniques. When the modified (grafted) polymer is heat treated at a temperature of 200 ° C. to 450 ° C., a crosslinking reaction occurs, resulting in an increase in Tg and formation of a thermosetting polymer having an elastic modulus of at least Tg.
