abstract An opening forming compression resistant web is disclosed that includes a first surface having a plurality of fine opening forming volcanic surface protrusions and a second surface spaced from the first surface generally parallel to the first surface. A plurality of fluid passages extend between the first surface and the second surface to install the first surface and the second surface in fluid communication. The web is formed from a multilayered polymer film consisting of at least one rigid layer and at least one substantially less rigid layer bonded to the rigid layer. In a preferred embodiment, the rigid layer has an elastic modulus of at least 120 kpsi and the substantially less rigid layer has an elastic modulus of 75 kpsi or less. The multilayer film is preferably formed by coextrusion of a rigid layer made of a mixture of polystyrene and polypropylene and a substantially less rigid layer made of LDPE and LLDPE.
