The present invention relates to a process for the production of aromatic amines by a gas phase catalytic hydrogenation of nitroaromatic compounds. The catalyst is palladium and lead on a coke carrier containing graphite or graphite. During this process 30 to 6000 equivalents of hydrogen per equivalent of nitro group are brought into contact with the catalyst. |
