abstract | The present invention relates to a process for producing polypropylene containing fibers and to fibers and nonwovens produced therefrom. The production method of the present invention comprises the steps of extruding a polypropylene containing material having a broad molecular weight distribution to form a hot extrudate having a surface, by quenching the hot extrudate in an oxidizing environment such that the surface is oxidative chain cut decomposition. Obtaining a fiber containing at least 7% by weight of molecules having a higher average mean melt flow rate and a molecular weight of 5 × 10 5 as compared to the average melt flow rate of the non-degradable inner portion. |
