titleOfInvention Lamp assembly with shroud using insulator support stop
abstract Outer envelopes sealed with arc discharge lamps of metal halides, arc tubes disposed within the envelopes, cylindrical shrouds arranged around the arc tubes, stops disposed at the ends of the shrouds for engaging the shrouds, and arc tubes Electrical wires to provide electrical energy and mechanically support the arc tube and shroud. The outer diameter of the shroud is maximized in proportion to the inner diameter of the neck of the outer envelope so that the shroud can be inserted through the neck during the lamp manufacturing process. To reduce the electrolytic sodium loss, the wire passing through the shroud adjacent the arc tube is surrounded by a ceramic sleeve that electrically insulates the wire from the arc tube, and the stop is ceramic that electrically insulates the shroud from the wire.
