titleOfInvention Antistatic coating for video display screen
abstract An antistatic coating for the outer surface of an image display panel such as a cathode ray tube (CRT) and a method for applying the surface coating uses a conventional antistatic material such as tin oxide coated with antimony, wherein (1) and water and alcohol (2) has a higher boiling point than water, and (3) has a greater solubility in oily contaminants than water. Solvents that have such properties and can be suitably adapted for use in antistatic coatings include ethylene glycol, dimethyl group solvents and derivatives thereof. The antistatic coating is highly susceptible to electrostatic discharge while reducing the sensitivity to contaminants such as dust and especially to residues of materials used when cleaning display panels during manufacture.
