abstract | Diaryl carbonates can be prepared by reacting CO and O 2 with aromatic hydroxy compounds in the presence of a base, quaternary salt, cocatalyst and desiccant at elevated temperature on a noble metal catalyst. According to the invention, the noble metal catalyst is activated with CO in the presence of a quaternary salt and optionally a cocatalyst. In certain process parameters, the base used is an alkali metal phenoxide produced in advance. |
