Biscyclopentadienyl Group 4 transition metal complexes are formed by contacting biscyclopentadienyl Group 4 metal halides, hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbyloxy or amide complexes with conjugated dienes. Uniquely, the ansa-rac diastereomer is selectively separated and, if desired, may be converted back to the halide form. When mixed with standard activation promoters or activated by activation techniques, the complexes form catalysts for the polymerization of olefinic, diolefinic and / or acetylenically unsaturated monomers. |
