abstract The present invention relates to bioactive molecules wherein the CD8 inhibitor molecules used herein are produced by CD8 subspecies of human T-lymphocytes, which inhibit HIV-1 replication through inhibition of viral transcription. The present invention relates to the isolation of clone CD8 cell lines producing antiviral activity and the development of a detection system for antiviral activity. Here, clone cell lines and test systems are used to purify and characterize CD8 inhibitor molecules. CD8 inhibitor molecules may be used for the treatment of diseases associated with HIV-1 infection.
