abstract The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving data through a reverse common packet channel in a code division multiple access communication system of asynchronous mobile communication decoration. In order to implement this, the present invention provides a base station to receive a selected one of a plurality of access preamble signatures from a subscriber station, and to allocate one of the unused channels among the plurality of physical common packet physical channels. An apparatus and method for allocating a common packet channel for selecting one of a plurality of channel assignment signatures combined with a received access preamble signature have been developed.
