abstract | Alloys that form metallic glass by cooling below the glass transition temperature at a rate of 10 6 K / s or less have beryllium at 2 to 47 atomic percent, at least one component of the first transition metal at 30 to 75 atomic percent and second At least one component of the transition metal is formed from 5 to 47 atomic percent. A preferred group of metallic glass alloys has a composition formula of (Zr 1-x Ti x ) a (Cu 1-y Ni y ) b Be c . In general, a is in the range of 30 to 75% and the lower limit increases with increasing x. When x is in the range of 0 to 0.15, b is in the range of 5 to 62% and c is in the range of 6 to 47%. The c value depends on x and b between 0 <x <1 and is in the range of 2 to 47%, thus b is in the range of 5 to 62%. 3-5 show a pseudo-three component composition diagram in which the range of thick solid lines represents the composition range of the alloys forming the glass. Other elements can be added to vary the properties of the alloy. |
