Macrolactin F of Streptomyces sp. YB-401 Culture Extract Extract with Inhibitory Effect on Cholesterol Biosynthesis |
abstract |
The present invention relates to macrolactin F extracted from a microbial culture medium that exhibits an inhibitory effect on cholesterol biosynthesis. More specifically, the present invention relates to macrolactin F, a microbial culture extract preparation that inhibits the activity of squalene synthase, a rate controlling step in the in vivo cholesterol biosynthesis process. Since macrolactin F has activity that inhibits squalene synthase in a concentration-dependent manner, inhibition of macrolactin epro cholesterol biosynthesis promotes the synthesis of low-density low-protein-cholesterol receptors in cells, resulting in blood The level of cholesterol in the body is lowered. In addition, macrolactin F may be used as a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease when it is developed as a drug in clinical trials. |
