abstract A method for removing chlorine ions present in iron oxide powder by heat-treating the iron oxide powder prepared from hydrochloric acid pickling solution using a mixed gas of ammonia and hydrogen, wherein the iron oxide powder is heated to 350-450 ° C. under nitrogen atmosphere. A method of removing chlorine ions in iron oxide powder is then provided by replacing the nitrogen gas with a mixed gas of ammonia and hydrogen having an ammonia concentration of 20-40% by volume and maintaining the reaction temperature for up to 30 minutes.n n n According to the above method, chlorine ions can be removed while reducing the heat treatment temperature and time without affecting the powdery characteristics of iron oxide.
