abstract The present invention is a multi-point injection of hydrogen; Dilute hydrogen with a diluent such as nitrogen; Hydrogen is mixed with a catalyst-selective improver such as carbon monoxide; Using ethylbenzene dehydrogenation exhaust gas to supply hydrogen; A method and apparatus for catalytic purification of styrene monomers by hydrogenating phenylacetylene contaminants to styrene in a catalyst bed using a multi-catalyst-phase-reactor or multiple reactors with each single catalyst bed. Preferred phenylacetylene reduction catalysts used are palladium on alumina carriers.
