titleOfInvention | How to remove sulfur dioxide from a gas stream |
abstract | The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for removing SO 2 from a low volume gas stream comprising a high concentration of SO 2 , comprising a tank scrubber comprising an aqueous SO 2 adsorbent and an impeller. The impeller includes a vertical axis of rotation with upper and lower impellers. The lower impeller acts to agitate the SO 2 adsorbent. The upper impeller includes a lid to guide the adsorbent and the gas outwardly with respect to the wall of the scrubber. Gas is injected into the adsorbent at the bottom of the covered impeller. The lid promotes gas-liquid mixing by preventing gas from passing through, resulting in a significant improvement in SO 2 removal efficiency. |
