| abstract | One embodiment of a data collection, signal processing and printing apparatus 10 constructed in accordance with the present invention is shown. The device 10 includes a data capture pylon 12, a signal processing device 14, a selection display 16, a keyboard 18, a selection modem 20 and a printer 22. The data acquisition pylon 12 connects to the main computer 14 via a data cable 24 and an adjustment cable 26. In the illustrated embodiment, the data computer pylon 12 connects to the power supply module 28 via a power cable. In one implementation, the operator 30 may enter control commands and data via the keyboard 18 while the appearance of the customer 32 is collectable by the data capture pylon 12. The illustrated device 10 is a single data for capturing an image of an identification card for a customer 32 and for delivering the image to a host computer 14 which typically serves as a single signal processing device for the printing device 10.
