titleOfInvention Catalytic System for Polymerizing Trans-1,4-polybutadiene from 1,3-butadiene
abstract Trans-1,4-polybutadiene is rather a thermoplastic rather than a rubber at room temperature because of its high crystallinity. Since trans-1,4-polybutadiene contains many double bonds in its main chain, it can be co-cured by blending them with rubber. Thus, this is an attractive substitute for conventional fillers such as carbon black, which are typically used in compounding rubber. By using the catalyst system and technology of the present invention, trans-1,4-polybutadiene can be synthesized at a high conversion rate. Specifically, the present invention comprises the steps of: (a) adding an organolithium compound and an alkali metal alkoxide to a polymerization medium containing a 1,3-butadiene monomer and an organic solvent as a catalyst system; And (b) polymerizing the 1,3-butadiene monomer at a temperature within the range of about −10 ° C. to about 45 ° C. to produce trans-1,4-polybutadiene to produce trans-1,4 by an anionic polymerization process. It relates to a method for synthesizing polybutadiene.
