The present invention discloses microporous membrane materials that are oleophobic, hydrophobic, water repellent, moisture and air permeable, heat sealable, suitable for garments. The membrane material comprises an olefin polymer, a processing compound that is miscible with the polymer at the melting point of the olefin polymer but wherein the phase separates upon cooling the polymer below its melting point and a fluorine-based composition. The membrane material is oriented in more than one direction. The membrane material is resistant to its repellency and moisture permeability for extended periods in garment applications in which the membrane material is exposed to sweat residues, which are generally known to contaminate and eventually destroy conventional liquid repulsion and moisture permeability treatment.
