Permanganate (AMnO 4 , A = Li, Na, K) is heat-treated at a temperature ranging from 200 to 1000 ° C. to prepare manganese dioxide having a layered crystal structure. It may contain bismuth (Bi) or lead (Pb) to further stabilize the layered crystal structure of manganese dioxide. The resulting manganese dioxide has a reversible charge / discharge characteristic, which makes it particularly suitable for use as a cathode material for secondary batteries. |
